Celebrating a decade of biennial award giving, the World Business and Development Awards are organized by the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in partnership this year with the Netherlands Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency and the UN Global Compact. The Awards demonstrate how businesses can, through their core business activities, help achieve the Millennium Development Goals - eight internationally-agreed targets to reduce poverty and environmental degradation and improve education, health conditions and gender equality by 2015. By bringing together examples of innovative, effective practice, the Awards also create a valuable platform and network for leading businesses and entrepreneurs to share experiences and promote best practices after Rio+20, encouraging other business and governments to replicate and scale initiatives. The award ceremony will be held on 19 June, culminating the BASD Business Day.

Sustainia20 June 2012Rio de Janeiro
Sustainia is a global construction site for building a sustainable future in a collaborative effort between those that have the ideas, technologies and solutions. It is inspired and designed by the world's leading companies, institutions and experts. Sustainia demonstrates and communicates what the world of tomorrow could look like and be like to live in if we implemented ready and available technologies. It is a clear demonstration of the society we could create if sectors, companies, scientists, politicians and civil society worked together towards a common goal. During the Rio+20 Conference, Sustainia will present a catalogue of 100 sustainable solutions - the Sustainia100 - that have been identified as solutions taking us to Sustainia. This powerful pool of solutions will complement the overall vision described in the Guide to Sustainia. Together, the Sustainia100 and the second edition of the Guide to Sustainia will be launched on 20 June at a high-level reception, broadening the Sustainia vision beyond its current chapters on homes, cities, transportation and energy systems.
