The Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum will be a showcase for innovative business contributions and commitments to sustainable development. The Forum is designed to inspire broad action and collaboration. Over 2,500 representatives of business, governments, civil society, academia and the UN System are expected to attend.All of the Forum’s sessions, unless otherwise noted, are open to journalists upon prior accreditation and registration.A media center with work spaces for journalists, as well as a press briefing room will be set up at the Forum’s main location, the Windsor Barra Hotel (Av. Lúcio Costa, 2630, Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, 22620-172, Brazil). Bilateral interview spaces will also be provided for journalists wishing to meet privately with Forum participants. The Global Compact Office will provide assistance in facilitating interview requests.A schedule of press briefings and announcements is now available online here (subject to change).
Please note that online media registration through [email protected] is now closed. UN-accredited journalists seeking to attend the Forum should bring their UN Press ID to register onsite. Media access to the Rio+20 Corporate Sustainability Forum will require 1) UN accreditation and 2) registration for the event. In addition to UN media passes for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (20-22 June 2012 at the RioCentro Convention Center), the Global Compact Office will issue separate press badges for the Windsor Barra Hotel. Further details about the accreditation and registration process will be made available closer to the event.

Following the rules established by the UN Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit (MALU), media accreditation will only be granted to journalists (print, photo, broadcast and online media) who represent a bona fide media organization*.

Please note that individuals representing corporate media outlets or NGO media will not be accredited to the Corporate Sustainability Forum. Also, no double accreditation is allowed (e.g., as press and delegate, or as press and NGO).
Media representatives already accredited to United Nations Headquarters in New York must register for the event by sending an email indicating name, role and media organization to the Global Compact Office at [email protected]. Please indicate whether you will be bringing any broadcasting equipment (cameras, sound equipment, etc.) and register early to avoid wait times at the Forum.
All other journalists seeking to cover the Corporate Sustainability Forum must first request accreditation from the UN Media Accreditation and Liaison Unit (UN MALU). The Department of Public Information must be satisfied that the individuals applying for accreditation are bona fide media professionals and represent bona fide media organizations [formally registered as a media organization in a country recognized by the United Nations General Assembly]. Accreditation will only be given on proof of a track record of reporting for media organizations on international affairs. Media accreditation is not accorded to the information outlets of non-governmental organizations. Applications are considered on a case-by-case basis and the decisions of the Department of Public Information are final. The Department of Public Information reserves the right to deny or withdraw accreditation of journalists from media organizations whose activities run counter to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations, or who abuse the privileges so extended or put the accreditation to improper use or act in a way not consistent with the principles of the Organization.
